Salt Lake was a learning experience, but we completely took Denver by a storm. Okay, so that's a bit melodramatic but we did better than we had thought we would.
If Salt Lake seemed unorganized and inexperienced, it's because it was, compared to Denver. Denver was a hub, and everyone knew what they were doing this time. We weren't running around like our heads were chopped off and about to be fried. Scouting was successful, and in turn, so was the drive team. They strategized and played the game like they were equals to all the other teams, and had a certain determination about them that they would not be overlooked and shoved to the bottom to become losers.
Exhaustion overtook the majority of us, save Jerome, who has an unlimited supply of it, but it was some of the best kind of fun. There was something of a team social, where 1332 played volleyball, soccer, basketball, and danced with kids from the other teams. Also the Denver MC (Master of Ceremonies) jumped at the slightest oppurtunity to make a roar out of team spirit and cheering. There was dancing and cheering and crazy costumes and even crazier coopertition among teams during competition.
All in all, it was a blast. While I admit that the game itself wasn't for spectators, it was one designed for the the drive teams to learn strategy and collaboration (Recycle Rush) with each other. There's nothing like that elated feeling of climbing your way to the top along with your alliance. It's relief, it's anticipation, it's the incredibly small hope that maybe, maybe, we just might be able to make it this time. Unfortunately, we didn't, but we did pretty damn good for a predominately rookie team. What could we do as seniors if we're this successful as Freshmen and Sophomores (there was one Junior and one Senior there)?
By the way, we ranked...28th at the regional. But we jumped all over the place; from 12th to 33rd to 15th to 28th. Quite the range.
It was after hours we ran amuck to Sprouts to get eggs and ice cream, because the fabulous hotel rooms we acquired had kitchenettes which meant fridges and stoves. Colby burnt eggs. At around midnight (don't know what he was doing making freaking eggs at midnight, but whatever. He still burnt them).
Denver was a blast, and next season is going to be even better, with a new shipment of rookies coming up and seasoned veterans taking the lead to an epic win that could potentially get us to Nationals. 'Cause let's be real here: we're going.
