As it is not build season yet, the only thing that we're really doing is trying to organize team. What that looks like:
Making a team roster.
Designing t-shirts.
Fundraising and grant writing.
Recently, we sent out a grant to Society of Women Engineers. It was a grant that was put together in a day, because we got the information like two days before the deadline. So basically, we were rejected money because the grant was...not very good. Right now we're working on a grant to send to Encana.
Our first big fundraising event was the Haunted House on Halloween, which we consider very successful as we raised about $1,000.00. It was crazy; we had parents telling their kids that they couldn't go in because it was so scary! Which was great, in terms of a Haunted House. But the team also had to scramble to get it put it together in time. Luckily, Mrs. Nichols teaches a Project Management class to help with mini projects that need to get done and the class was influential in organizing the event.
The Project Management class is also organizing a fundraiser for City Market shoppers. The way it works: whoever has a King Soopers card uses it when buying groceries at City Market, and a percentage of the money spent goes to the team to use. Of course, that's still in progress. Some of the students in Project Management have also been working to make flyers to sell Cree light bulbs. T-shirts are being designed right now, and we hope to have them ready before the official build-season.
