Kickoff was a few days ago, January 3rd, to be exact, at the Denver Nature and Science Museum. It was crazy; the five of us that went drove through snowstorms and hours-long traffic the day before to get there. And once we did, we were in for a long day.
It started with getting there and shoving our way through the crowd of other Robotics teams. Check in, and then we went into the big IMAX theater they had at the museum, where we watched the Kickoff video which revealed this season's game, Recycle Rush. The object of the game is to get the noodles, or litter, into recycle bins and to stack crates within a certain amount of time in designated areas. After watching this season's game, the team participated in different workshops they offered like electronics and wiring, project management, and what the judges expected during competition from the teams. Afterwards, we explored the museum. Then it was back to the hotel to swim and figure out how to order Chinese food.
Currently, we're trying to get organized and start the season smoothly by reading the manual and designing the robot, figuring out what went well and what didn't last year.
